After "Do not fade away", i dont know how long after.
The scoobies find out Spike is alive, willow and her "team" go to find him in LA, turns out illyria grabbed angel and took him to mexico?, and then she died there after saving him, shed dumped spike safely in the sewers in LA.

Willow uses a spell to find spike, hes taking care of a lot of kids all ages, trying to survive in a warehouse.
Later dawn comes to LA after learning hes alive, and lastly buffy arrives. Willows been giving spike Van's and food and spike has a "daughter" or is she just a little girl hes "adopted" she doesnt speak really but she like willow  uses telepathy. She can alsow "sense" peoples emotions.
