I'm searching for a fic, I've read some time ago, but can't find it now. Here are the things I remember:
In the beginning there was Spike/Tara friendship. He rescues her from her abusive parents. They go to Sunnydale and meet the Scooby Gang.
Spike tries to be good for Tara, because he doesn't want to spoil her friendship with the Scoobies. There was a scene in the Bronce, where he cuts his arms to prevent himself to give Riley lip.
At some point he falls in love with Buffy and he regains his reflection. He becomes very uncertain about his appearance.
