Sweet imbroglios
Apr. 6th, 2007 10:12 amYou guys were so helpful with my last quest, I thought I'd try another one.
No author name, of course. I think the title had a "Sweet" in it, or some other S-word that made the story sound much sappier and fluffier than it actually was. It was a more-or-less-abandoned WIP when I lost track of it, but that was at least a few years ago, so I'm hoping the author might have picked it back up again by now. I think the author had gotten distracted with some other story called "Imbroglio" or "Inseraglio" or some such I-word.
The set-up: In one of his less brainy moments, Spike takes Buffy to a demon brothel whose main selling point is a sort of magical parasite that switches the wearer/host to the opposite gender for a few hours, so we get male Buffy and female Spike. But when they're ready to leave, Spike finds he can't revert to himself -- he's somehow gotten pregnant, and the magic won't release until the child is born. Buffy freaks, and since this is a sixth-season Buffy, the freaking isn't pretty. Spike flees town to protect the potentially-monster baby (and himself) from RighteousSlayer!Buffy. He ends up in LA, thinking he can weasel information about impossible magical pregnancies out of Angel's pet Watcher. But Spike doesn't know about Connor, and a post-throat-slashing Wesley isn't too happy with female vampires trying to manipulate him while claiming to be pregnant. When the WIP ended, Spike was chained up in Wesley's apartment and Buffy was on the way from Sunnydale to take him off Wesley's hands.
Any clues?
