Here is another vague story that I am looking for. This one has Buffy going into Spike's mind where she meets a young boy (who is William) and a monster (who is Spike's demon). I think they are co-existing, staying together and the demon protects the boy.

Although "Seeing His Shade" seems like a great story (and I'll read it later) it has William as being older. The one I am thinking of has "William" as being a young boy. I have a visual of the demon holding and comforting the child.

Is the plot something like spike has been gone a long time and then he shows up but he seems to be another person. He has become possessed by and angel. And co opted spike to host hem in the war of heaven Maybe? Thats all I remember about it. Very strange story!

I haven't read "In His Shadow," so I don't think it is that one.

I think the plot is more along the lines of Spike battling something within him (I'm thinking it might be his restored soul) and Buffy goes inside his mind. There, she meets the child and the demon. The child is with the demon because they are friends and the demon, being bigger, takes care of him and protects him. Buffy realizes that the boy is William and that he and the vampire's demon have been co-existing inside Spike all along.

Nope, not that one either. Although I loved "Sympathy For the Devil" the story I am looking for is not Buffy just seeing scenes from his past but I believe she is interacting with the boy and demon and they are real inside Spike's head.

I want to thank everyone who has tried to find this one for me. Please don't stop. I'm still looking too!
