Can't remember the name or author of this fic, but I know the general idea behind it and the plot is pretty unique (or so I think).

Spike's chip is on the fritz and is going off at the simplest physical contact with a human. The pain is so intense that he results to banging his head against wall, floor, etc. to try to knock himself out.

Another I can't remember:

AU post-Seeing Red. Instead of just a soul, Spike gains humanity. He goes back to Sunnydale to see Buffy. She beats the crap out of him in the bathroom, not realizing that he's no longer a vampire. Damage is serious, and I think Spike falls into a coma.

Not sure how accurate that is, but any clues as to the identity of this fic would be great. (I think help was requested in finding this fic before, but to no avail. Maybe someone remembers now.) Thanks!

2nd: Did Anya take him to Angel after? I put a search for that one up a while ago, but no one ever replied. Here's to hoping you have better luck.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that happened. I remember Anya being really sympathetic toward Spike because she had done the demon to human switch, too.

The one I remember is Spangel, where Spike's chip malfunctions and starts going off all the time. Spike is in such pain that Angel is going to dust him to put him out of his misery and then walk into the sunlight himself. But just before he dusts Spike Fred's catapult thing goes off and hits Spike which causes the chip to start functioning right. Can't remember the title at the moment. Could this be the one? If so, I'll look for it 'cause I know I have it. Just let me know. -- gail

Hey!

It's the same user as before - I just don't feel like signing in... and I said I'd come back. If you find that story - the one that's after seeing red, put up the link - I've gone to look for it. If I find it, I'll let you know. Oh - I remember there was that I can't remember who wrote it - but I think it's on bloodverse - or something like that, where Warren and his gang get a hold of Spike's spike. It's called Leashing the Beast - I think it was by Nos... it's quite good, if I remember it correctly. I'm not too sure it was on bloodverse; google is probably the best search engine for stories like this. There was another one - I vaguely remember it, but I believe it was on fanfictio.net where the trio had gotten their hands on his chip and they made a mistake so instead of controlling him, it just went off and nothing stopped it. That one might be the one by irfikos, but I'm not sure. But, honestly, the closest one I've found to the chip was the one I mentioned before - Restrained. It's not finished, I don't think. As for the humanity one - there's one called Mistake(s)? where he comes back as a human and gets killed by Giles - but it is a oneshot. There's a really good one called Blood Bound, but it's not about the soul - it's about the chip by DreamsofSpike - where Buffy is very brutal with Spike. DreamsofSpike is almost anti-spuffy, in some cases where it's leaning toward spara or spillow - spara, especially. It's an AU season four, that one, but it is definitely spuffy. Dreamsofspike has some really awesome Spuffy stories, even if some of them are anti. There's one where Spike gets his soul shoved back in by the rampage Willow after Tara's death, but I'm not sure where that one is... it's either Nos or irkfikos - oh, and the stories by irfikos, if you're interested (the stories are really good!) the link is http://www.naturalblues.org/irfikos/index.html . I'll keep digging through my own personal archives - I save pretty much everything. I know I've stumbled across both of them, or something like both before, so if I find it, I'll just come back. (again).

Yeah, the first fic was in fact "Retrained." The second fic has yet to be found. A similar request was made a few weeks ago, to no avail, and I have yet to find success either.

"Mistakes" was a fic that I was looking for earlier as well, but found myself soon after posting for help. I've read all of DreamsofSpike's stories, and I love them all, she's a very talented written. "Leashing the Beast" by Nos is a very good story too, as is "Chain" by irkfikos and DoS's "Saving Grace;" all of which are alike in that Spike's chip is being controlled.

All the authors and stories you've mentioned are great, thanks for reminding me of them! Also, thanks for replying and the link!
