Did I dream it?
Mar. 22nd, 2007 09:42 pmThis isn't one of my main fandoms, but...the other day I was reading Martha Taylor's fic (not that she writes in my main fandoms either, just some of my favourite dark fantasy).
I have a dim memory of having read *something*, *somewhere*, which contained the following elements:
1) It referenced Robert Chambers' _King in Yellow_. The original idea was a rather Lovecraftian take on The Play That Cannot Be Produced Or Nameless Horrors Shall Follow, so of course (in the story, if it exists) it *was* produced, and nameless horrors *did* follow, including but not limited to Cordy's idea of metrical scansion. It included the most striking lines from the original idea: "The King has ope'd his tattered mantle/There's only Christ to cry to now".
2) There was a good creepy dark-fantasy dream-sequence about being lost in a hotel and trying to find the right door (which was what reminded me; very similar to Martha Taylor's writing, but it can't be hers, because she only does SG and TS)
3) Words cannot express the dimness of my memory of this, if it exists, but I know the fandom context is either Angel or Angel crossover with something else...and I certainly remember that Cordy and Angel were in it.
Am I mixing up two different stories or did I dream this entirely?
I turned up to bother this community as a last resort: am rather surprised that increasingly-frantic Googling for Angel characters and The King in Yellow hasn't turned up anything.
Please, somebody...did I dream it, or am I remembering a story that exists and that other people have read?
Confused, Pred'x
