Runaway Xander finds family in Giles-as-foster-parent

I'm looking for the story in which Xander runs away from his dad, after being beaten one too many times. He realizes he's out at night in Sunnyvale eventually and Giles' house is closest, and Giles let's him stay the night (there's no Giles/Xander). Giles starts to suspect something rotten in the Harris household, and manages to somehow get Xander to stay--he may or may not become his legal foster dad. There also may be something about why Xander's clothes were always so ugly before he left home? I can't remember if it's gen or if he was slashed with Spike.
