I have been fruitlessly searching for a fic for months. I read it earlier this year and all I can remember is Spike and Buffy on some sort of road trip and Spike switches on the radio and is horrified to have Nine Inch Nail's Closer come on. But Buffy says she likes this song, which leads to naughty car rutting.

If anyone could help me, I'd be very very grateful

Are you sure it's a Spuffy fic? there's one similar to your description but it's Buffy and Giles story

Absolutely certain. When I first read it I was in a Spuffy only frame of mind. And I distinctly remember it was Spike.
