seeking_spikeI'm looking for a fic. Or rather the name and/or author of a fic. Set in season 4, Spike gets recaptured by the Initiative and Buffy goes in to save him. I know, lots of fics like that. This one was written at the time the season aired, in it Maggie is Riley's biological mother and her hubby is a big blobby monster thing living in the bowels of the complex (side effects of Maggie's experimentation. Deliberate or accident, can't remember). I remember Maggie interviews Spike about his human past and Buffy gets ahold of the tapes and gets all emotional whist listening to them in her car. It's an older fic (written pre-FFL) so his background in the story doesn't match current canon. There also may have been a scene in which Buffy fights a water demon as part of her Initiative trainer (the demon is actually a sort-of pet and they have to stop her from killing it), but I could be confusing that with another fic, I can't remember clearly.
Sound familiar to anyone? I know I have it saved on my computer somewhere and would really like to read it again, I just need a little bit to go on.
