Looking for a fic

Read it sometime back and now can't find it. Buffy is in LA after sending Angel to hell; Spike is also in LA, contracting for Wolfram and Hart. He happens upon her when she is fighting a demon. Buffy is injured in the attack, and Spike ends up taking her back to his penthouse ... angst and sex ensue. Not a fluffy piece. Ring any bells for anyone?

Gah... YES it is very much ringing a bell... now it is gonna drive me crazy! I had a quick search where I thought I might have read it but I couldn't find it.

I do hope someone remembers so they can put us BOTH out of our misery! lol

I've been looking for DAYS, retracing my steps through tons of fanfic ... no luck. Damn. May have been something I happened on in the RDA Awards, but the site is down now, more's the pity (stupidly, I used it as one big bookmark for lots of great fic that I may never find again). As you said, hopefully someone will soon put us out of our misery!

Thanks! I should be ashamed of myself. This is the second time I've been hunting for a mighty fine fic and it ends up being one of Gwyneth's. Next time I will check there first. Looooove her stuff.

Thanks! Very kind of you. The story I'm seeking was really quite good -- Spike was his bad-ass unchipped self, and their interactions were edgy and believable. Ending was great as well, and true to the Spike of that period in canon. Hope someone can point us to it! Meanwhile, will read your recommendation.
