Spuffy AU: Joyce dead, Angel a cop, Harmony next door...

I'm posting this for a friend. Sound familiar to anyone?

I'm pretty sure it was on Livejournal, not at one of the archives. It was an AU, with no vampires or slayers. Buffy lived by herself in a big house that was left to her when her mother died, which was in the fairly recent past, like a year or so before. Dawn had gone to live with their dad after having a falling out with Buffy after Joyce's death, and Buffy was still pretty upset about that. Next door to her, Harmony lived with her husband/boyfriend, who I think was maybe Warren. Whoever it was, he would beat Harmony and Buffy would have to call the cops pretty often to break up fights at their house. Angel was a cop, several years older than Buffy, but he had dated her when she was in high school and they were still friends. He was married to Cordelia and they had a bunch of kids. One night at a bar, Harmony's husband started threatening Buffy because of her calling the police during his most recent fight with Harmony. Spike and Dru were at the bar too and Spike sort of got in the middle of the fight between Warren (?) and Buffy in an act of chivalry which Buffy didn't appreciate because he just escalated things. Typical Buffy/Spike antagonistic banter.

Long story short, Buffy's trying to rent out a room in her house to make some extra money, Dru dumps Spike and takes his car and money so he doesn't have a way out of town, so Buffy ends up taking him on as a boarder. Sexual tension, blah blah blah. I can remember all that, but not what the title was or who the author was. Does anyone else remember this fic? It's not old -- I just read it a few months ago.

Pretty sure that's a fic by ellan_vannin. I don't remember the name, but as far as I know she's left the fandom.

Shadowlass, thanks for posting this! eowyn_315 has the right story, I recognize the author's name. It's too bad she left fandom, but at least I won't go crazy looking for her LJ anymore.

Summary: AU/AH. Buffy's trying to save her house and get her sister back, and not doing such a great job. Spike is just passing through. Right?
