Dying Spike Fic

I think I probably read this fic a couple of years ago.  I know that shortly after I read it, my computer was stolen, and it was another six months before I got it replaced and was able to get back into reading fanfic again.  The story takes place shortly after Spike allows himself to be tortured by Glory in order to protect Dawn's identity as the key.  If I remember correctly, Spike's wounds from that encounter haven't even completely healed when somehow or another (patrolling with Buffy?), Spike is exposed to the same poison that nearly killed Angel in season 3.  The wounds Spike received from Glory stop healing, he starts running a fever and is obviously getting weaker and weaker.  He knows that he is dying and he knows that Slayer blood can save him, but he also believes that Buffy won't save him the way she saved Angel.  Of course, Giles and the Scoobies are quite willing to let him die, in spite of the sacrifice he made for Dawn.  It's hard to tell in this fic just exactly how Buffy feels about this.  Spike has only one request.  He wants Buffy to slay him in one last fight.  He doesn't want to simply turn to dust.  The last thing I remember in the fic is Spike smoking one last cigarette and telling Buffy, "Let's go do this." or words to that effect.  I don't know if this fic was ever even finished.  I really hope so.  I'm dying to find out what happened.  I hope somebody recognizes this and can help.  :)

Wow! That was fast! Thank you so much. Poison is the fic I was looking for. I'm sorry it isn't complete, but the last two chapters were ones I had not read yet, so that was nice. Maybe someone else knows if this fic is complete on some other site, but since it hasn't been updated at EF since 2007, I have the feeling that it's in WIP limbo. *Sigh* It's such a pity as it was a really intriguing fic, and I would have loved to have seen more of it.

I was the beta on that fic, and I don't believe that it will ever be finished. I contacted ElizaB quite awhile ago when I hadn't had an update from her in some time, and she never responded :-( Glad to know the fic had a following, tough :-)

I'm sorry to hear that it is unlikely that this fic will ever be completed. It really is a shame as it was very well-written and was a unique take on a premise (Spike dying slowly from poison or from some other cause) that I had seen in a few other fics, but was handled very differently in this story. I was looking forward to seeing where she was going to go with this. I guess we can always hope that the muse will inspire her to work on this story again.
