Can not believe I can't find this fic! 

Something going on that Buffy needs to share a power with a mate.  The Scoobies decide on Xander even though Spike and Buffy have a close relationship.  Buffy's dad and Travers' kidnap Buffy.  Spike ends up rescuing her by steping in a circle during a spell to bind Buffy to Travers -Buffy is drugged.  Buffy and Spike end up sharing the power. 

I know this search has been posted before and I believe it's by a major author.  I'm going to be annoyed when I'm told what the title is but will be grateful all the same.  Thanks everyone!

I suggest to reread the story that was suggested. The summary doesn't give you a clue but the story has what you were asking for.

Wow. I went and reviewed after Anonymous posted and I didn't think that was it. I REALLY didn't remember it being a '2-part' type story. Thanks for the correction and thanks to Anonymous for the suggestion in the first place. No wonder I couldn't find the darn thing!!!

After reading this entry here and the Answer from Anonymous I thought: that's right, that is it. Then I read the summary got doubts. But I couldn't let go that is was the story so I checked. First thoughts are mostly right. ;)

You see, easy to miss if you go only by the summary.
