AU Spike instead of Angel

I read a fic about a year ago, where Spike comes to Sunnydale in season 1.  Buffy stakes Angel in that first meeting in the alley, and Spike decides to stick around while Buffy "seasons", even going so far as to help her train in order to make her worthy of the fight.  He bites her everytime she looses a training session.  I can't seem to find it again.

The other story I'm looking for I don't remember a lot of, just one specific scene.  Spike killed the Annointed one for Buffy, but she doesn't trust him.  Angel comes into the library and takes credit for the kill (in a very pompous, annoying way I might add).  I think Giles knows Angel's lying and that Spike's trying to help?  It might be a time travel fic.  Not much to go on, but if anyone could help me out I'd be very grateful :)

The first story could be Change Partners and Dance by dreamweaver and the second one sounds like Paradox by Jackofspikes. Both can be found at Elysian Fields.

Thanks! It was Change Partners and Paradox :) I love those stories. I'd never read Catch a Falling Star before, so thank you for that recommendation too!

2nd one definitely sounds like Paradox by JackofSpikes, it could have been Catch a Falling Star and Put it in Your Pocket also by JackofSpikes, but it's not. Good story, though. It's actually Paradox. What threw me was your first sentence when asking for what story it sounds like: Spike killed the Annointed one for Buffy, but she doesn't trust him.

It was the last part of that which had me scratching my head. In Catch she forms a friendship bond with Spike therefore she is grateful and overjoyed that he would kill the Anointed One for her.

In Paradox Spike killed the Anointed One in their regular time period when Buffy hated and didn't trust him. She still is wary of trusting him in the Paradox time period, but she goes along with Spike who kills the Anointed One (again), and then both kill the minions after Spike asks who professes their loyalty.

So definitely Paradox because Angel takes the credit for that which angers Giles who knows (future and other time line) Buffy and Spike are at his flat, having already taken care of this themselves.

I love JackofSpikes stories! Must have read them insanely too much? Same goes for Dreamweavers stories! Fantastic writers and definitely rec all stories by both!
