seeking_spikeOi, this is going to be a long shot for sure. I *think* this is a super old fic by Isabelle, but I'm not sure. All I remember is that at the end, Spike is living alone in a cottage somewhere very cold, and someone comes to the door. It ultimately ends up being Buffy dressed in a cloak and she had been looking for him or was led there by someone in Spike's confidence.
