Oi, this is going to be a long shot for sure. I *think* this is a super old fic by Isabelle, but I'm not sure. All I remember is that at the end, Spike is living alone in a cottage somewhere very cold, and someone comes to the door. It ultimately ends up being Buffy dressed in a cloak and she had been looking for him or was led there by someone in Spike's confidence.

Next time I will try to vague it up a bit more. *facepalm*

At one point I had a whole list of her fics -- and I think some more of them are posted at All About Spike, but the fic listing by author search isn't working, so I tried trolling through the fics by pairing and had no luck. Doesn't mean it's not out there somewhere. I just didn't want to leave you hanging. I'll keep looking though, coz now I'm curious too.

My first series set after Season 4. This story basically takes place in the summer after "Restless". Buffy and Spike get kidnapped by a demon council that intends to sell the Slayer and the Master vampire in a demon action. Things unravel and they find that they can take comfort in each other. Series rated R. Length: Very Long.

The Island of Galleno
Set post 'Normal Again'. The moment that Spike finally has Buffy, he is vamp-napped by Riley and a new officer, Jack Marshall, and sent to the Island of Galleno by the Moroccan coast were all the leftovers of the Initiative are being placed. Buffy frantically looks for Spike but gets news that he was 'accidentally killed' by Jack, who decides to make Sunnydale his residence. The whole thing is Spike trying to get back to Sunnydale and Buffy thinking he's dead. It's filled with exotic places, tons of Original Characters, mysticism, enchantment, magic and love. It takes him years to find out who he is before he can find the one he loves. Series rated: R. Length: Very long--24 long chapters.

Les Miserables WORK IN PROGRESS
Yes, this is my summer series. Set right after Spike comes back from Africa, with a soul. Buffy, having a hard time dealing with him as it is gets stuck in a black hole--time warp along with Spike. They wake up in revolutionary America, in the middle of the war. Everyone recognizes them... even their kids which they have no clue how they came to be. But what is waiting for them in this time is more than they can handle--more than they can take. Series rated: NC-17. Length: Very long--20-or more long chapters.

One Hundred Years of Solitude
Set after Season 5 finale. My own AU version of what the future will be like after Buffy dies. Not realistic at all and filled with action and original characters. Basically the powers bring Buffy back 100 yrs into the future and the only one that is alive is Spike. But Spike is nothing like she remembers him, he's completely changed and to her surprise works for the powers themselves. This story contain harsh language, sex scenes, and massive action that may contain torture. The series is rated a strong R and at times NC-17! Length: 23 LONG CHAPTERS!

Song of Solomon
Set some fifty years after "Smashed", Spike died about seven months after the episode aired. Buffy being not truly human is more of an immortal; she's alone in this earth and her life does an 360 degree turn when she runs into Rocco in a bar one night. Rocco is somewhat the reincarnation of Spike's soul and with his body. Very AU...VERY!! B/S, some B/Rocco. The series is rated strong R. Length: Around 10 semi-long chapters.

What We Lost Collection
In my universe this is set Season 5, Buffy and Spike are lovers in secret. But when Spike finds out that Angel is getting his shanshu he leaves Buffy so she can have happiness. But after he leaves is Angel still the love of Buffy's life? Rated PG-15. Length: Short-Medium

Dialogue of Self and Soul (NC-17) Set after "Blood Ties" episode. While fighting a demon Buffy's and Spike's blood mixes with that of the demon. They find out that this has linked their thoughts and emotions. S/B.

Green Eggs and Spike (PG-15) Set in a supposed Season 7, spoilers for Entropy. Buffy is not ready to deal with Spike in front of her friEnds--this might cause her to loose him. Short ficlet.

The Guardian (PG) Spike POV after "The Gift".

Healing Muscle (PG-13) Ficlet after 'Bring on the Night'--how Buffy takes care of Spike after she rescues him.

The Honeymooners (PG) Ficlet--This is set kinda after Beneath You but no real spoilers, it's also set at the end of BTVS--like what happens after.

If I Lie Down (PG) Very short fiction set after "Rough Love".

Into the Matrix (R) To try to stop Buffy from finding their hideout the Trio of nerds zap both Buffy and Spike, acciden-tally trapping them in the Matrix dimension, and the only way to get back if for 'Neo' aka Buffy to find her power within... along side the vampire who was told by an Oracle that he would fall in love with the chosen one. Set post Normal Again. (5 page long fic) COMPLETED!!

Leather Last Forever (Strong R) Short piece set somewhere is Season 6, but no spoilers. A romantic piece that is kind of dark.

Middle of Love (PG) Spoilers for General Season 7. So the world is ending, what does Buffy do? NEW!!

No Heat, No Flame (NC-17) Please this contains material not suitable for people under 17 yrs old. Story set after "Fool For Love", Buffy finds satisfaction in a place she never dreamed off. (Contains some B/R, for the sake of the story but it is a B/S piece)
The Orphan Reformed (NC-17) Set after the "Crush" episode. Spike leaves Sunnydale only to return three years into the future and find that a lot of things have changed. S/B. Some W/T.

The P in Perfection (PG) Waning: done is less than two hours, plot sucks and it's fluffy...not my best work. Enjoy it none the less and it's basically the X-Mas fiction. S/B ending, good for the heart *g*
Pretend I am Invincible (PG-13) A Buffy POV. Set in Season 6. Buffy's thoughts on Spike and his loyalty.

The Unknown Citizen (R) Season 6 Spike POV. Starts out brooding will grow to a story. Very much angst.

Waltz of Silence (PG) Set in Season 6, Buffy is a bit suicidal after she is brought back from the dead and Spike helps her find meaning again.
When Push Comes to Shove )PG) Post BTVS Finale, Chosen. Spike is alive and in L.A. searching for Buffy. Ficlet, and very much fluffy.

No prob; this way I found a working link for Isabelle to add her stories to my recs (didn't have her yet).
But back to my question:
Was Spike living (alone?) in the mountains? And Buffy going to see him at the end? But then leaving again?
Not sure if I don't mix two stories up by myself.
