A fic with an abyssinian kitten in love with Spike.

So I'm looking around and reading fanfic, stalking AJ Hofarce's LJ, and she posted this in her latest entry: "There is a story out there. I cannot for the life of me remember the damn title. I DO remember that it took place sometime after The Gift in an alternate Season 6 that was a little more happier. And I VIVIDLY remember that Spike gave Buffy and Dawn a sweet little tawny colored male kitten with green eyes that Dawn named Lion. And I remember that the most because the kitten attacks Spike's shoelaces when he walks in. Spike picks him up and the kitten snarls at him, right before Spike vamps and snarls back, and the kitten falls absolutely in love with him." I'm sorry if I'm violating her privacy in any way, but I can't remember the freaking title either, and I would very much like to find out!

I know this story. I was gonna help her and then be done and move on. But I forgot. I've been searching for it for over two hours, and nothing. The suspense is killing me! I think I read it on dark solace. I remember it being relatively short. Gosh, I read this two or three times, one of my favorites because it's such a sweet story in season six. It starts and ends with Spike and his "two girls", Buffy and Dawn, calling them family. Buffy is surprised when Dawn says they're boyfriend and girlfriend, but she can see it too. When Buffy says they don't sleep together, Dawn replies with not all married couples do either. The kitten, the abyssinian, I remember I recently looked up on google images. (So cute!) Buffy is doing a history project with her partner Brad and Spike comes in on them and acts upset. Because he's afraid she'll find someone and won't need him anymore and then he won't be in her life. And Brad apologizes or something about offending Buffy's "boyfriend". Or asking if he was always this protective. I dunno, I might be mixing things up. Oh man, if this isn't the same fic I'm thinking of, then darn. Screwy things in my head. So if someone could help me, I would be oh so thankful. Not knowing this fic is killing me!

On another note, I suddenly remembered this scene. Buffy finding pictures of her, Dawn and Joyce in Spike's stuff. And also a picture of them around the Thanksgiving table in Pangs, which Buffy reluctantly let Dawn take a picture of, which she realizes he has because that's the only picture with the two of them.

I know the one with a kitten is by slaymesoftly because I was rereading some of her fics the other day and I remember that one clearly, but I'm not sure exactly which one it was. You can find her fics here (http://www.spuffystuff.org/Fics.html) though. Sorry I couldn't be more help. ♥

Yeah, I was just coming back to tell you I was wrong and it was Awakenings by dreamweaver but jmarie beat me to it.

The part about Brad though sounds like something else, probably an AU/AH fic but not one I can remember reading.

It kinda sounds like you have three different fics here.

The one where Spike gets Buffy and Dawn a kitten named "Lion" is Dreamweaver's "Awakenings." That's available on Elysian Fields; however, it does not match the rest of your description.

Dreamweaver also wrote a recent story called Hide and Seek that contains a scene where Buffy finds Spike's picture among Dawn's things, but it's not an image from Pangs. Dawn got the picture from Andrew who captured the image off his video. The rest matches, though - Buffy lets Dawn keep the picture after they have a confrontation over it.

Yes yes yes! That's it! Oh Judi, thank you sooooo much! Ah, I knew it was Addie! (No I didn't, obviously) It was her writing style. Here's the kicker: "I thought that Addie Logan had written it (turns out she wrote And Then She Knew, which is also one of my favorite post-The Gift fics). Obviously it wasn't. If anyone remembers which one it is, please tell me?" That is the rest of AJ's quote. I was looking and it was right there the whole time. The way she described it sounded like And Then She Knew. But anyway, that's why I didn't bother to check Addie's fics!!!! Ah, kill me. But thank you Judi, you ended my painful agony!

Thank you everyone, so much. My goodness, you're completely right. The kitten "Lion" is from dreamweaver's Awakenings. Which has nothing to do with the fic I thought I had in my head, therefore I couldn't find it. I'm so embarrassed, told you my brain was screwy.

I know I haven't read Hide and Seek yet, but I will. :) Anyway, my description was probably too vague. Maybe I made it up. But in my made up world, the photo was definitely from Pangs. Story wasn't set in season four though. I'm can't even remember if Spike was dead or not...

If I haven't fulfilled my quota yet, can we try again? I am looking for a Spuffy fic, no kittens, set in a much gentler season 6. I remember bits and pieces, but I will only describe one scene, in case I'm describing three different fics (again). I'm sticking to the Brad scene. Though that's probably not his name. Recap, around the middle of the story Buffy goes back to college and is working on some assignment with a guy. Buffy and Spike are in a friendship. Spike walks into the living room. Spuffy confrontation because "he's afraid she'll find someone and won't need him anymore and then he won't be in her life." Sorry I repeat and talk too much.
