I'm half remember a story where Spike time traveled (after he got his soul) back to season 5. Giles ends up putting him under a truth spell and finds out what is going to happen. Spike tries to save Joyce, but she ultimately dies. The other details I remember are very vague, but I remember that when he is trying to save Joyce, Buffy becomes very suspicious of him and Spike tells her that he can smell the sickness on Joyce.
Does this ring bells with anyone?
