Spoiler question about Learning Curve by Kallierose

I was reading this story today and was getting pretty into it when I inadvertently pulled up one of the final chapters . In it it seemed that Spike was still feeding and killing even though he was with Willow and she was begging him not to .

Is that really the case? If so I probably won't finish it because I don't enjoy longer pieces (this one has 58 chapters) if Spike isn't redeemed or at least well on his way by the end.

Thanks if you can help with this. Really don't need any extra angst right now.
