I feel so silly, because I've read this fic 2 or 3 times, and really should remember what it's called...

Human AU. Buffy is a high school student who gets pregnant by Riley, but he (and his family) are more concerned about Riley's military career than the baby, and buy her off. Buffy falls for William, her teacher, and they begin a secret affair which eventually leads to marriage and another child. At the end, Riley comes back and sees everything he missed out on.

You know, it's probably even sitting on my hard drive, but I just can't find it...

Thank you!!! I was thinking about it today, and wanting to reread it, but then I couldn't find it :)

It's a wonderful story, hun. I especially love that scene at the end where Riley comes back, and Spike's in the pool with the kids... It's a lovely snapshot of their happy life after everything they went through.

I'll let you in on a little secret -- that epilogue was in my head long before I had all the middle parts. The first chapter and the epilogue were there, when I started writing it, and all the middle stuff wasn't.

I wish I could explain how it happens or why. . . but I can't. I don't really understand it all myself. I just know when the story is there, it has to be told.
