specific story and others with similar storyline: Xander on the road on his own

 I was in the middle of a video game when a story I read a year or so ago popped into my head.  Xander has gotten tired of the Buffy, Willow, and Giles' treating him like he's so fragile and/or stupid that he can't go anywhere without their permission or protection.  So he just packs his car and hits the road.  Several months later he runs into Faith, probably in a diner.  She's been traveling too, though not actively looking for him.  She agrees not to haul him back like the other would and not to tell them she's seen him.  She understands that he will return when he's ready.

I've read at least two stories in the last week where Xander's feeling smothered by the girls' controlling ways and the spells Willow has put on him to 'protect' him and keep him in the place they think he should be and I'd like to find more of the like.

Reading this makes me want to read some now. What were the two that you read so I could read them also.

The first story is at Twisting the Hellmouth. It's an X-Men, Xander-centered crossover called 'Needed', written by SilkenSky. Willow talks Xander into sitting inside a pentagram so she could do a protection charm for poor stupid, helpless Xander because she and Buffy won't be with him to protect him when he goes back to Africa. (Hear the sarcasm there?)

The second is a series of three stories that start out strictly Harry Potter. Xander doesn't show up until toward the end of part one. It's a very interesting take on Xander's life in Africa and why he came back. 'The Lady in White/Ten Questions/Fealty is written by Setcheti and can be found at Lone Wolf Ficholm (www.lonetreecp.org/LWFicholm/lwindex.htm) and at Setcheti's Campfire (www.setchetiscampfire.net).
There's another there called 'Jesse' where Willow has the same condescending attitude toward Xander, but instead of putting another spell on him she does something much worse. (Setcheti also writes fantastic Magnificent Seven stories, too. Some of my faves are here. You might like them even if you aren't into M7.) Enjoy!
