I was reading some synopsis for the more recent season nine Buffy comics and read that Buffy and Spike were finally going to be together until Buffy literally saw herself in a normal life holding a job, making her own money and just plain out being normal. After that she tells Spike they can't be together because once again she wants to just be normal and she can't do that with him. Spike finally has enough and tells her he can't take her leading him on anymore and that he deserves someone who will love him back and leaves.

I've already read gryfndor-godess' Hey There, Blondie Bear (which is about this exact comic moment) and would like to find another story out there like it where Spike has enough of Buffy's jerking him around and leaves. Maybe they work things out, maybe they don't. It doesn't have to be related to the comics just have a similar theme.

Spike leaves after Dead Things and moves to LA. Eventually they work things out but Spike stands his ground and doesn't come running back to her. Buffy is the one who has to make the first move and it takes her awhile.

Yeah, I've read a good bit of Enigmaticblue's work, this one is a pretty good story.

I thought I had a bunch among my season 6 fics, but almost all of them end up Spuffy (my main theme during most of the season was "Spike grows a pair, and/or Buffy gets a clue") So, I didn't really find much that I thought would fit what you're looking for. I did, however, find a lot of things that needed deleting, polishing or tweaking in the few early fics I checked out - so thanks for that. :) Now to replace the ones I've fixed on my website and to reread all the rest to see which ones needed better editing, or in some cases, just to go quietly away forever.... :)
