Spuffy season 4?

I've been in a Buffy the Vampire slayer mood lately; I've been rewatching the series.  Always a good thing!  At any rate I'm trying to remember a season 4 fic I read several years ago. 

The primary thing I remember is that Spike has the ring of Amara implanted in (I think!) his abdomen instead of wearing it on a finger where Buffy can easily pull it off.  I think he may have been set back in time after chosen?  It's not Pandora's Boxer by the always wonderful speakr2customrs but if I recall correctly it's a similar idea.

Again, not the one I was actually looking for but looks like fun. Thanks so much for the idea! I'm also both a little surprised that there are this many story with the same basic trope and a little surprised that there are this many season 4 spuffy stories I haven't read!

Is that the one where he swallows it because he decides he doesn't want Willow cutting him open (when it becomes obvious she doesn't really know what she's doing)? Or am I thinking of a different one?

One of these days, I'm going to have to work on making that database I always dreamed of to catalogue all the fic I've read and make it searchable by keywords (so I could go in and look for "time travel" and "Amara" and have it pop up with all the stories containing those two things).

I'm pretty sure I've read the story you're looking for, but it's getting all jumbled with some of the ones that have already been mentioned here.

Sigh. Me too! I'm actually starting to wonder if I'm remembering the details correctly or mixing them up with other stories...

I do like the database idea though! I think that was sort of what the spuffy_recs com was originally meant to be, before it kind of fizzled out. The keywords idea intrigues!
