Extinguishing Flames, by Kumi: I found it through the WaybackMachine in the Sandlot site, and I already have it saved on the PC, but it's fixed so I can't save it as Word.doc or any other shape that will allow me to move it to Kindle. Do any of you kind cospecific of mine have it saved in a way that will let me read it "on the move"?
Thanks in any case to the lovely people that keep this site running in spite of everything!
Hopefully, Relurker.

I lost that story years ago. Could you send it to me, please, as you have it on your PC?
thanks,

You might try this:
If you have page on your tool bar, go into edit in Microsoft (If you have it), Highlight the story, hit copy, and paste to a 'new' word page.

I'm sorry it didn't work, I'm probably just forgetting to tell you a step that's worked for me. You're not being indiscreet. I know it sounds cliché, but like most of the stories I've written, my name came to me in a dream.

You can also try going into your file manager click on the story file once then click rename. Only change the file extension. So instead of it saying: storyfile.pdf you can change it to: storyfile.doc. That would make it a word file. Or you can even try to change it to a txt file and open it in wordpad.

You might lose some formatting in the process. My advice? Save the file in another folder before you try anything so at least you will still have the original if anything happens. But I've had to change the file extensions before on other files and it works most of the time. If possible the easiest way is to select the text of the file and copy it to word like arcadii suggested. It might be easier to do that right from the way back machine page.

I managed to cut and paste it as a doc from the sandlot site. What is your email address so I can send it to you.
