A long time ago (in 2004, I guess) there was Mr.Gordo ficathon on LJ, but I can't find the exact link. Please, tell me that I just suck at searching and it wasn't deleted/friendlocked ?..
I remember there being a ficathon, so I did a bit of digging. I couldn't find any mention of it out on mrgordo, but I'll confess that I wasn't thorough in search (it seems unlikely, though, since the whole point of that one was that it was written from Mr. Gordo's perspective). I checked some of the usual suspects and found references to it on gen_storyteller, through the Tags there... but all the links off of that lead to things that have either been deleted or are flocked (I'm guessing that's where your search got you, as well).
Your best bet may be to try emailing bookishwench, since it appears she was the one who ran the ficathon, and see if she is willing to give you access to links.
Okay, I just went out to Bing and did this search: "mr. gordo" ficathon
It actually returned links to quite a few stories that were written for the ficathon. Not as good as being able to find a centralized spot here on LJ, but it would at least get you through to some of the stories you're looking for.
Yes, the mention of the ficathon in some stories' summaries was the actual thing that sent me searching for it. Huge thanks for the pointers to bookishwench. And even more thanks for mrgordo, can't believe I've never seen that before)
Woot! Thanks! I was a bit curious about the fics there, too. Not sure if I had saved copies of them or not.
Hmm... just realized I don't have a Mr. Gordo icon. I have a stuffed Mr. Gordo, so I may have to see about making one. Until then, I'll use the photo of Mr. Mouse (my cat, Numfar, carries him all over the house and has adventures with him... no joke! I never know where I'm going to find him or what he's going to be staring at).
Oh, thank you! And also - wow, you are Meltha! I absolutely love your stories. "Leap to Sunnydale" was one of the first fanfics I've ever read, and it's still my favorite.
This inquiry has been most illuminating! And fun! I've found all kinds of good stuff. You've probably already done this, but there are several stories on AO3 that pop up with the Mr. Gordo tag:
Yes, that's how it started) Also, found a ghost of Mr.Gordo fansite (https://web.archive.org/web/20080515152101/http://www.channelingboards.com/Fanfiction/Gordofic.html), still available via wayback machine.
