Looking for a fic wherein Buffy and William meet in a grand old hotel kind of holding place for souls, and their union in that place is not supposed to happen. Kind of vague, I know. But a great fic -- Dru and Angelus and Darla are also there (soul-wise, that is). At one point Buffy and William go on a picnic and Buffy eats a forbidden apple from a tree, which gives them knowledge they aren't supposed to have ... (yeah, I know what that sounds like, but really, I am not conflating fanfic with the Bible, although in the hands of some writers it can feel every bit as spiritually compelling ...)

Hmm, think I know which fic you mean but I can't remember the title either. Gonna give you some of the details as I remember them, so if you think it's the right one you can add them to increase the chance of someone else knowing the title it.

It's set in S7. Buffy goes back to heaven because she and Spike were trapped (by the explosion in the school I think) and instead of letting Buffy suffocate Spike drained her. Once she's back in heaven she remembers that she met William (as in Spikes soul) while she was dead. Her eating the apple coincided with her resurrection. William was devastated and wanted to follow her, which was finally possible when Spike got his soul back. Sadly neither of them could remember their expiriences in heaven at first. Buffy's soul fights her way back from heaven so they can be together again and in the end they are both some kind of super-fighter-vampire... Sounds about right?

Ummmmm. Some of that sounds familiar, yeah. And there's some part in it where William goes back to where they had their picnic to find whatever is left of the apple in the grass. And did I mention that they made love on that picnic?

Add me to the remember it but not the name list. Although if it's any help, it's been a little while since I read it, and I think it was before I discovered that there was fic anywhere besides the BSV, so that's probably where I read it.
